Cookies & Tracking Policy
This page explains what cookies and similar technologies Re-lo uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. Cookies let the website remember information about you between visits (login state, preferences, items in a cart, etc.). Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB.
2. Categories we use
2.1 Strictly necessary (always on)
Required for the Service to function. Cannot be disabled.
- relo_session — authenticated session token (when signed in)
- relo_compared_ids_v1 — localStorage, your compare-tray selections
- relo_neighborhood_v1 — localStorage cache for neighborhood walkability data (30-day TTL)
- relo_cookie_consent_v1 — localStorage, your cookie-banner preference
2.2 Functional (opt-in via banner)
Improve your experience but aren’t required.
- relo_recent_searches — recently viewed searches for quick re-access
- relo_seen_intro — whether you’ve dismissed the first-visit intro overlay
2.3 Analytics (opt-in via banner)
Help us understand how visitors use the Service so we can improve it. We use privacy-respecting analytics only — no third-party advertising trackers.
- Aggregated pageview counts (anonymized)
- Performance metrics (load time, error counts)
2.4 Marketing
We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not retarget you on Facebook, Google, or any other platform.
3. Third-party services
- Vercel (hosting) — sets functional cookies for routing
- Supabase (auth + database) — sets a session cookie when you sign in
- MapTiler / OpenStreetMap (maps) — may set cookies for tile delivery
- Sentry (error monitoring) — anonymized error data only, no cookies
4. Managing cookies
On your first visit you’ll see a cookie banner with Accept and Decline options. You can change your preference any time by clicking the “Cookie preferences” link in our Footer.
You can also block or delete cookies via your browser settings. Note that disabling strictly-necessary cookies will break sign-in and compare tray.
5. Do-not-track
We honor your browser’s Do-Not-Track signal. When DNT is enabled, we do not load analytics scripts and we treat your visit as “decline” for the cookie banner.
